Learn and Travel… a new story from Bulgaria and Italy

80573570_576596106473856_4151501502684332032_nDr Plamena Boycheva from Bulgaria attended our program Learn and Trave with Vets on The Balkans in December 2019 with the support of Blue Sky Commerce and Clinica Veterinara Laggo Magiore.

Let her tell us more about her adventure:

“We all know that to be good vets and to provide the best possible care for our patients we need to be up to date with the newest, the most modern and well-used techniques in our everyday practice. Is there a better way to achieve that than being part of a Vet on the Balkans. Talking about pursuing that goal, I want to thank the whole team of Blue sky commerce and Vet on the Balkans.

I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to be part of the Lago Maggiore Clinic team, even for a week. After a few emails exchanged, I knew that I was going to the right place. I had no doubts regarding my safe journey and the organization of the trip. Let me tell you how I spent my time there:

In a late and rainy afternoon, I arrived at the airport in Italy, where I was greeted by Dr Sara Manfredini – an incredible person and anesthesiologist, who showed me handy tips in anaesthesia. Furthermore, I find out what a great spirit she has. I can easily say that she is the heart of the clinic; she has never stopped giving her passion for everything she has done. She was very supportive, and on the very same day, she arranged a tour around the clinic. I was impressed with the scale of the clinic. There are digital X-ray, CT, well-equipped laboratory room, endoscapy, ultrasound very well organized stationary. Of course, Dr Sara Manfredini was so kind as to order an Italian pizza for my first dinner there. Immediately I felt a friendly and warm atmosphere. Then I met Dr Jessica; rigorous and dedicated doctor. She was the person who showed the apartment where I would be staying and made my time there very easy; thank you, Jessica, for being so lovely and kind.

My colleagues had thought of everything, and the organization was incredible, like everything else that the team do. I can assure you that the atmosphere of this place is terrific.

The chief doctor at the time that I was there was Dr Mariangela De Franco, who has inspired my work. Also, she gave me essential pieces of advice on the field of echocardiography, in which I am very interested. She is not only a fantastic specialist but also a wonderful person. She has led her team with great love and warmth, which reflected on their overall work and attitude towards patients. A few days later, I had the honour to meet Dr Luigi Venko and Dr Luca Formaggini; Two exceptional people and doctors. With professionalism and humanity Dr Formagini, the head of the clinic is the inspiration of each member of the team. Everyone at the clinic has been dedicated and has taught many tricks in my day-to-day work. Besides the professional experience I had given, I also learned to cook some Italian dishes according to original recipes.12745855_10153614352488768_1773045904046497569_n

Although, I might not mention everyone: thank you, people, for your hospitality, your attitude and your guidance. Thank you for the spirit you carry. I wish I would have the opportunity to meet you again soon.”learn and travel23316272_180060419216123_164154967085808895_n

Learn and Travel……. stories from the vets! Dr Florin Cristian Delureanu at Clinica Veterinaria Lago Maggiore!

Let’s them to tell us:

Dr Luca Formaggini:

Florin Cristian Delureanu is a young Romanian veterinarian who came to Clinica Veterinaria Lago Maggiore as a member of a two-week-externship project created in collaboration with Vets On The Balkans.

It was a wonderful experience for all of us to have the possibility to work and confront with Florin. He showed devotion and proficiency in a lot of fields during his stay at Clinica Veterinaria Lago Maggiore; in fact when we met him, Florin first told us he was interested in soft tissue surgery, but he also showed passion for intensive care unit, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging and he took part to all the activities of our Clinic.

He was able to confirm that passion for study and continuous professional upgrade can help advance the level of practice and the ability to do the best for our patients.

One of the most interesting parts of this project is the opportunity to deal with different realities and compare the various guidelines and protocols adopted by different veterinary structures.

“Hand by hand we all will be better” is the endearing motto of the project and we hope this will lead to further future collaborations between Vets from different countries.

Dr Florin Cristian Delureanu:

First of all I want to say that I felt lucky that I had the opportunity to spend two weeks in Clinica Veterinaria Lago Maggiore and I will tell you why.

f1From the first day I was greeted with smiles and open arms, and after I met the whole team, we began to discuss clinical cases in the clinic and ways of approach. I realized they are polite and friendly. They were very careful with me from the beginning until the last day (when we celebrated with a special cake tasting).

The members of the clinic are well organized, they treat with great importance and care of each patient and I enjoy seeing that they work as a well-connected team.

The clinic is well structured with many rooms equipped with special equipment useful for many procedures. I was very excited about the equipment of the clinic and I said “yes,” surely there will be a lot of action here and so it was. With a large number of cases, the team devotes a lot of time to saving the animals.

f2Speaking of relaxation, Lake Maggiore gave me an unforgettable view, spending a few breaks on the shore. We also relaxed spending the evening in town. In one of the evenings I was with some colleagues in Rocca Borromeo Park to admire the lights on the other bank of the lake. I decided at the end of the period to miss half a day from the clinic to visit the Borromean Islands.

f3Due to my desire for plastic surgery and reconstructive and wound management, I stayed close to Dr. Luca Formaggini. He answered all my questions, was opened to all of my discussion topics. He explained to me in detail and with patience every step which should be followed in all of the surgical interventions that took place over the two weeks. I also want to thank him for allowing me to use one of the endoscopes. I have greatly appreciated this aspect. He is funny and have open mind.

f8I also thank Dr. Sara Manfredini for having been patient with me and it was a pleasure for me to put pressure on her shoulders. He explained my anesthetic protocols and other procedures. I was like a needle in her spine. I think the best word to describe her is – kindness.

I want to appreciate the other team members: Mariangela De Franco, Luigi Venco, Andrea, Giuditta, Elisa, Paolo, Margherita, Marta and Salvo. I also received the science from you

Thanks for science and for memories!!!!!!!!

f6I have a message for the team : The bat will return more “aggressive”!

Thanks Vet on the Balkans and to all people who support this program. You do a great job. Well done!

Dr Cristian Badulescu with the team of the clinic

Before I go to Lago Maggiore Clinic, I looked on the internet to see what’s going on there. I saw them with equipment high-technology facilities. I saw that they are capable and do surgical maneuvers excellent and it’s a veterinary clinic with a very good reputation. I can therefore expect to find here and a little superciliousness, or even some superiority. But it was not so! I found wonderful people, full of positive energy. Highly trained people who know exactly what they do. But what I liked most is modesty and their openness to sharing information. They do not want to hide anything. If you know what questions to put, you get all the information you need. 17522631_1751933485118027_6444855593354748323_n 17498712_1751933001784742_8726199192797128569_nI had the honor to talk to Luca Formaggini, Luigi Venco and Giorgio Romanelli. They are true celebrities in the world of veterinary medicine in Italy. I talked a lot about a lot. The impression to me of all is that all are governed by modesty and good will. So, I thank you Vets on the Balkans for this oportunity to meet great people! Great job! Bright future!17626459_1751932908451418_3868390825708698876_n 17554387_1751934088451300_4726607108209581561_n

And of course the opinion of Dr Luigi Venco:

It ‘s Always a great experience to meet and work with enthusiastic and motivated people like Dr. Andrey Ginchev and Dr Cristian Badulescu. Exchanging knowledge and experiences and find to be friends at the end. Thanks Andrey and Cristian! Thank you Vet on the Balkans!
